The 2025 Second Quarter Water and Sewer Billing is due Tuesday, May 20th, 2025. Please pay promptly to avoid interest of 1.5% monthly.

Water Shut Off’s will resume on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 for customers with one or more quarters past due on their account. Please make a payment or payment arrangements prior to May 20th to avoid service disconnection.

Once disconnected, the water service will only be restored Monday – Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. There will be an additional charge of $25.00 for continuance / reinstatement of service which must be paid at that time. Emergency requests for reconnection after business hours will be an additional charge of $260.00.

Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, and lasting approximately two weeks, the Pompton Lakes Borough Municipal Utilities Authority will conduct its Spring Hydrant Flushing Program.  The hydrant flushing will be performed during the hours of 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM to cause the least inconvenience to our customers.

It should be noted that customers may experience temporary discoloration in their water or a drop in water pressure during the program.

In response to the concerns about the sewer odor in some parts of town, the NJDEP and Passaic County Board of Health have responded to the Authority as we try to determine the causes. Their reports with the findings are provided below.

We are aware of the Hydrogen sulfide (rotten eggs) odors that have been popping up throughout the Borough and are working to narrow down a cause for the recent occurrences. We believe that the sewer smell may be generated by the sewer collection system, especially with the water table being as low as it has been. To try and improve the situation, the Authority has scheduled sewer main cleaning in the affected areas during November and December. We will continue to monitor the situation and clean the mains as necessary. At this time, we have no reason to believe that the odor is being generated by an upset at the treatment plant, located at 2000 Lincoln Ave, Pompton Lakes. Public Law 2021, Chapter 183 (NJ Bill A5343/S3398) requires all community water systems (CWS) to perform an initial service line inventory and make the findings publicly available. To update our records, we’re asking for your help to identify what type of material your service is by conducting a visual inspection and completing an online Water Service Inspection Form.

The Lower Twin Lakes Dam Restoration Project is now completed. This was made possible by the Authority obtaining a low interest loan from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Dam Safety & Compliance.
