Open Position: Full-time Water/Wastewater Operator

Location: In Person, 2000 Lincoln Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442

Schedule:          M-F 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Salary:              $41,600.00 – $65,000.00 per year, Commensurate with experience

Department:                The PLBMUA operates a 1.2 MGD wastewater treatment facility, a wastewater collection system with seven pump/lift stations, and a drinking water distribution system with three well houses and two storage tanks.

Responsibilities:                Carry out daily inspections of water and wastewater facilities, including, but not limited to, operation of pumps and valves, adjustment of chemical feed, visual inspection and cleaning of wastewater wet wells, transducers, floats, and rag removal devices, well draw down testing, chlorine testing and adjustments, valve turning and hydrant exercising program, distribution and collection system repairs, buildings and grounds maintenance, laboratory testing, treatment plant operations and maintenance, among other job duties. Candidates must be available to respond to emergencies and will be required to work certain holidays throughout the year.

Qualifications:                Experience in water and wastewater heavily encouraged, with a good working knowledge of water and wastewater equipment and operations preferred. NJDEP S, C, T, and W licenses preferred, but not required. High School diploma, or equivalent, is required, with a valid NJ Driver’s License.
