BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED

UPDATE 7/3/26 8:30 AM:

The Pompton Lakes MUA has conducted all required sampling, and the boil water advisory is lifted for the entire water system, effective immediately. Thank you for your continued patience.

The valve installation at the water tanks went well last night and the system was brought back online fully earlier this morning.

Because sections of the water system experienced a drop in pressure, the NJDEP requires a precautionary Boil Water Advisory, effective immediately and until water sampling results are obtained.

The following briefing outlines the details of what this means for you.

We will update this post as soon as the sample results are obtained and the advisory can be lifted.

We appreciate your continued patience in this matter.

UPDATE 7/2/26 8:30 AM:

The boil water advisory is purely Precautionary and mandated by NJDEP any time there is pressure loss in the system. We are not aware of any issues currently and have no reason to believe there will be. It also only impacts residents at higher elevations, as stated in the letter. This is because it was a controlled shutdown and was drawn down from the highest points in town, the water tanks.

We will receive the sample results in 24 hours, and the boil water notice will be lifted as soon as possible thereafter.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience at this time.
